4 Things Las Vegas Sports Fans Are Talking About Right Now

Like it or not, this seems to be what’s on the mind of Las Vegas sports fans around the globe!

1. Good job, Raiders

It’s no secret that Las Vegas Raiders fans take a lot of crap from the rest of the NFL community and one has to start wondering whether they still deserve it. Sure, Raider Nation is a rowdy bunch known to get drunk, party, and maybe fight on occasion, but that passion helped propel the team through some dark moments throughout the roller coaster 2021 season. Fans stuck with this team through a DUI incident, losing their head coach, multiple losing streaks, and some heartbreaking defeats.

As Sports Illustrated says, “the world quit on the Las Vegas Raiders, they didn’t quit on themselves… Raiders fans in the Las Vegas raiders real fan page on Facebook gave themselves a well-deserved pat on the back for sticking with their team all season. They definitely deserve it too after all they have been through together. This team and this fanbase didn’t give up on themselves, leading to something truly magical in 2022.”

2. Three cheers for Brexton!

Kyle Busch might be a two-time Cup Series champion and winner of over 200 races across NASCAR’s top three series, but it looks like the Las Vegas native will one day be surpassed by his six-year-old son Brexton Busch. The six-year-old was invited to the Tulsa Shootout in 2021, where he won the C main race and rallied from 13th to 4th in the B main.

Now, fans are in love! Brexton madness has reached such a fever pitch that the little one already has Facebook fan pages. One page has over 1,300 fans- a lot for a six-year-old!

After Brexton’s performance in the Tulsa Shootout, one fan had this to say:

Brexton, I hope you see or hear these comments because I m calling it now,You WILL be the next Kyle Larson with what I saw yesterday on Flo tv.You are a natural! I m a fan for life!!

It’s fitting praise for a young man who seems poised to set the racing world on fire.

3. Rich Bissaceria for head coach

Rich Bissaceria took over as interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after Jon Gruden resigned, leading the team during a very difficult period. Despite needing to overcome the never-ending circus that was the Gruden email scandal, the coach went 7-5  and led the team to the playoffs with one of the worst defenses in the league. He made history, asLas Vegas Raiders fans were quick to point it out in the Facebook group “Las Vegas Raiders.

One post claims that Bissaceria is the first head coach in the Super Bowl-era of the NFL to make the playoffs as an interim head coach. Not only is that a testament to that man s leadership skills, but it also has a lot of Raiders fans hoping that he will be the head coach moving forward. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, but some may be upset if they decide to bring in Jim Harbaugh instead.

One fan had this to say about Bissaceria staying on as head coach and how it would affect the team:

Hire a new coach and we start all over again. He’s going to want to bring in his own staff. New offense to learn. New defense. With all the distractions and being left for dead at 6-7, we’ve rallied to win 4 in a row to earn a playoff spot the hard way. Coach Bisaccia and his staff deserve another season if they want it.

4. Hello, Becky Hammon

Speaking of coaches, the former Assistant coach of the San Antonio Spurs, Becky Hammon, signed on to be the Las Vegas Aces new head coach in 2022. While Hammon was originally in consideration for several NBA head coaching jobs, team owners had trouble giving her a chance due to what they perceived as a lack of experience. That didn’t bother the Aces, though, who hired Hammon and are expected to have one of the best seasons in the organization’s history.

Aces fans seem to be behind Hammon, too, with one fan posting:

I remember you playing for the New York Liberty… wishing you nothing but the BEST now you coaching my favorite team ,the Las Vegas Aces. congratulations.
