While The Covid-19 pandemic affected every NFL team differently, The Las Vegas Raiders held the distinction of being the only team that couldn’t play in their new 1.9 billion dollar stadium. Not only did the Las Vegas fandom not get to go to an entire home game all season long, but it was also supposed to be the organization's first year in sin city.  Unfortunately for the team, it was a very forgettable season on and off the field.

Fans deserve all the credit in the world for waiting an entire season to see their new team play though. Of course, some fans were infighting on social media during that dumpster fire of a season, but the fact that the fanbase stood strong means. Something. No matter how divided they were about the future of the team, none of them could wait to finally see them in person.

There’s not a lot to say about the 2020 Las Vegas Raiders season.  The Raiders finished the NFL season with a record of 8-8, which sounds decent, but was pitiful. The reason for this was the fact that was 6-4 at one point. Unfortunately for Las Vegas, they would go on to lose four of their next six games.

With that being said, The Raiders fandom is still stuck through a lot of this and deserves praise for doing so. Sure, there was a contingent of Raider nation that couldn’t take it anymore, especially with how heated the Quarterback debate was at the time, there are still a lot of Raiders fans that stayed the course. It is those fans who have helped make a difference in the fandom and bring it together in unity.

The Jon Gruden email scandal was something that rocked The Las Vegas Raider's organization to its very core and became a distraction very quickly.  Then again, how can could one not be absolutely repulsed by the sexist, racist, and misogynistic language that Gruden used in conversations with others in the NFL.

It probably didn't help that the team was in virtual freefall before the emails were even leaked and the constant media scrutiny only intensified things. Rich Bisaccia took over as head coach after Gruden resigned from the team and while it was a dark period, The Raiders fandom stepped up! This is when it became less about fighting over who should lead the team going forward and more about moving forward together.

Hours of hateful debates were suddenly transformed into getting a win or keeping a positive mindset. It was more about the positives of Rich Bissacia as head coach and less about scrutinizing Derek Carr. There was just this collective moment where Las Vegas fans decided they were in this thing together and showed it! And the Raiders were able to use that to rally to a 10-7 season, plus a playoff run!

Speaking of the 2021 Las Vegas Raiders season, it was truly one for the ages. Not only was that evident by several off-field scandals bringing the team into the news but also due to the potential, they showed during certain games. For example, Derek Carr and Las Vegas would go on to win their first three games of the season before getting blown out by The Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders would then go on to lose against The Chicago Bears putting their season in free fall.

Unfortunately for Sin City, the scandal was just starting to gain traction, which was quickly followed up by Henry Rugg’s DUI incident. This left the team in a virtual free fall and needing momentum. They got this in the form of a Divisional victory against The Denver Broncos, putting their season back on track in the process. The fanbase also never abandoned their team or each other.

Whether it was the DUI incident that tragically took the life of Tina Tintor, or Damon Arnette waiving a gun on camera, the fans always came together and showed their support. Furthermore, they came out to comfort and help the people that were affected by these events, speaking volumes about their integrity. Finally, despite getting knocked out of the wildcard round of the playoffs, Raiders fans still never lost hope. That might just be the best part about them!

As hard as it is to believe now, there was a time when Derek Carr was not very popular with The Las Vegas Raiders fanbase. In fact, many fans outright called for his firing, or for him to take a backseat to fellow Quarterback, Marcus Mariota. Internet forums were also inundated with conversations about his future with Las Vegas, which continued throughout the 2021 NFL season. It didn't help that other sports fans were calling for his firing as well.

Fast forward to 2021 however and Derek Carr became the glue that held much of The Raiders together. He put up decent numbers game after game and kept the team positive with his leadership. Furthermore, his press conferences managed to put the orginization in a positive light despite scandal after scandal. He was just someone that fans could rally behind.

And that’s eventually what happened when it came to Carr and  Raiders fans. They started to get behind him and see him as one of the league's best Quarterbacks. It might have taken some time and some very difficult events, but Carr has come out of this whole thing stronger. Interestingly enough, so have the fans.
