Hand Pick Your Own Sunflowers at Gilcrease Orchard

Gilcrease Orchard is blooming with sunflowers this summer.

Have you ever wanted to pick your own sunflowers in the desert?

Now you can. Gilcrease Orchard on the north side of Vegas is blooming with picture-perfect sunflowers right now. Anyone can go into the orchard and hand pick the prettiest ones for just $2 per flower. Plus, the orchard has fruits and veggies that are in season and ripe for picking.

Who would have thought that the desert would be home to a thriving orchard? Right now, you can hand pick your own fresh tomatoes, peaches, zucchini, summer squash, and cucumbers. Peaches are $2 per pound, and tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, and cucumbers are $1.50 per pound. 

Potatoes, garlic, onions, eggs, homemade apricot and blackberry jam, herbs, olive oil, peanut butter, honey, and kettle corn are also available for purchase at the property’s Farm Stand.

You might think the orchard sprung up because connecting with nature is trendy right now. In fact, the Gilcrease family planted the orchard in the early 1920s. This piece of land has been preserved and producing quality crops for nearly 100 years!  


You’ll have to get up early to take advantage of what the local land has to offer. Beat the heat, and spend a morning bringing beautiful locally grown sunflowers and produce home this summer!  


The orchard is free and open to the public, but pets aren’t allowed. 


Gilcrease Orchard is currently open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7 am to 10 am. It’s located at 7800 N Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV 89131
