The NASCAR All-Star race took place on May 19, and all anyone remembers is the fight between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch. It all started on lap two of the all-star race when the two were jockeying for position. Busch described his side of the story in an interview on the Kenny Wallace show.
"I ran wide into Turn 1. Gave an opening to the middle. He took it. I gave room on the exit to make sure we didn’t touch, so I touched the fence a little bit. I was touching the fence, and he still ran into me and brushed off on my left front corner," Busch said. "So, it was inevitable that I was going to get put in the fence anyway. I wasn’t too pleased about that and did come back and retaliate.”
Stenhouse Jr. took this personally and started his revenge tour by parking his wrecked car in Kyle Busch’s pit box. He then climbed the spotter box of Busch’s team to communicate his displeasure with them. The car eventually had to be towed, but not before Stenhouse Jr. promised to look for Busch after the race.

Stenhouse Jr. made good on his promise and confronted Kyle Buch shortly after he climbed out of his car. He took a surprise swing at Busch. Busch tried to fight back but was pushed back by Stenhouse Jr.’s team. Stenhouse Jr’s dad even had Busch in a chokehold at one point.
No one told Kyle Busch to prepare for a fight
The craziest part is that no one told Busch that Stenhouse Jr. would be waiting for him after the All-Star race. Busch’s crew sat on this information for over 190 laps without giving Busch a heads-up.
“And then afterwards obviously, trying to have some casual words,. I had no idea his comments of hold my watch or you know, hey, if you want to see something afterwards, hang out until afterwards. Nobody told me. So, I felt like I went into an ambush blind," Busch explained. "But tried to hold my own the best I could fighting off five different guys and coming out of there with no black eyes.”
