Why Las Vegas was chosen for WrestleMania 41

Minneapolis was once the favorite for hosting duties, but Las Vegas outbid the city. Some speculate that Vegas made a strategic move to help tourism during a down period.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer says:” Easter weekend, that’s what Vegas wanted. Vegas wanted it because they wanted them in when it’s traditionally not a good weekend for tourism. That’s why they wanted them in; they wanted them in on a weekend that’s not good for tourism.”

There's another reason for the WrestleMania 41 change—WWE’s recent merger with UFC. This spawned a shift in management that wasn't sold on WrestleMania in Minnesota.

"We were informed by WWE that Minnesota would not host WrestleMania in 2025 due to a change in direction by new ownership," Minnesota Sports and Events President Wendy Blackshaw said. "Although disappointed, we are in discussions with WWE about future events in Minnesota."

Las Vegas will get two main events at WrestleMania 41

WrestleMania 41 features a two-night card, which WWE started doing during the pandemic and has become the norm. The benefit is a juicier show. WrestleMania 40’s night one main event featured Cody Rodhes and Seth Rollins versus The Rock and Roman Reigns. The stipulation for the match was that if Rock and Roman won, they could do whatever they wanted in the next night's main event.

These matches are classics and extremely fun for those who see the whole story. The Rock and Roman Reigns won on night one, which gave Reigns freedom for his title bout. Unfortunately for  Reigns, it also evened the odds. Eventually, Rhdoes was able to end the reign of terror.

How matches for WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas will be determined

The road to WrestleMania 41 starts at the Royal Rumble, where 30 men and women will compete for a title shot. These matches can only end when a competitor has dumped their last opponent over the top rope. Each winner gets a title match at WrestleMania 41 and a chance to main-event the show. A winner can challenge for the Undisputed WWE Title, Heavyweight Title, and  NXT Title.

WWE isn't going to reveal these matches right away to build up anticipation for the big title matches. Once the main event and title matches are decided, the company moves on to the Elimination Chamber for a six-person match to determine the contender for the other main title.

Wrestlemania 41 is set for April 19 and 20, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
