The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in Las Vegas sports

A key star out for the season, a Las Vegas native chasing a record, and the Aaron Rodgers rumor. All on the good, the bad, and the ugly in Las Vegas sports.

1. # The good: Kyle Busch extends his winning seasons record to 16

Las Vegas native Kyle Busch had a lot to prove coming into the 2021 season, which is why his eventual victory at Kansas Motor Speedway earlier this year is so important. Not only did it prove that Kyle Busch was still a legitimate contender for the Championship after a season of subpar performances, but it also put him a step closer to leaving another mark in the history books. In fact, if Busch is able to win races in 2022, 2023, and 2024, he will surpass Richard Petty for most consecutive seasons with a win. It might just be a matter of time before Busch becomes arguably the most consistent driver in NASCAR history.

2. The bad: The Aaron Rodgers rumors

Believe it or not, the Aaron Rodgers saga continues in Green Bay, and while it will be interesting to see where he will go, it has obviously become a distraction to those of Raider Nation. Keep in mind that the team had trouble last year pleasing the fanbase after deciding to start Derek Carr over Marcus Mariota, making it a distant possibility that this will happen again. With a prime candidate like Rodgers on the docket, one has to wonder if the fans can pressure Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden into ditching Carr for Rodgers.

3. The ugly: Angel McCoughtry out for season with torn ACL/miniscus

Although the Las Vegas Aces have had quite the offseason in terms of acquisitions, they also took a huge hit after losing Angel McCoughtry to a torn ACL injury during a game against the Las Angeles Sparks. Unfortunately for the Aces, her torn ACL/torn meniscus injury is going to keep her out for the season. Now, you could argue that the Aces have weapons in place like Riquna Williams, A'ja Wilson, and Chelsea Gray that are capable of offsetting this deficit left by McCoughtry, but who knows if it will end up working?
