The largest spherical structure in the world is a mind-boggling vision of the future of entertainment.
The Las Vegas Sphere launched on Sept. 29 with a series of performances by U2 and a custom film by Darren Aronofsky. There’s no doubt that the Sphere is an iconic addition to Las Vegas’ skyline. This technological marvel offers a glimpse of entertainment’s future.
The gigantic Sphere cost a whopping $2.3 billion to construct. The conceptualization was initiated by cable TV and Madison Square Garden mogul James Dolan. Dolan unveiled the plans in February 2018 in a high-tech presentation at Radio City Music Hall. He claimed the Sphere will revolutionize how audiences and artists connect.
The Sphere’s sound system
The audience experiences varying sonic experiences in different parts of the venue, which can host up to 20,000 people. The Sphere’s sound system is designed by Berlin-based Holoplot.
During production of U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere, the concert is electrified by the custom 16K-resolution content coupled with the unique lighting and a mobile stage. The custom film
Postcard From Earth, which was filmed on every continent, utilized more than 160,000 speakers alongside bleeding-edge technology.

The Sphere will play a huge role at November’s Formula One race in Las Vegas. It’s been determined that turn six and the beginning of turn seven on the track will run through the Sphere’s parking lot. Also, the Formula One race will use the Sphere’s infield for its staging area, the activation area, and musical artists. There are also plans to have Formula One content displayed on the exosphere during the race. An afterparty for the drivers will also take place at Sphere.

The inside of the Sphere is a mind-bending music theater containing 18,500 seats. Moreover, there are about 20,000 people who can stand in the audience. To spice up things, it contains a 16K wraparound LED screen rising to a height of 76.2 meters with the highest resolution in the world. This creates a 14,864 square meter canvas that nearly encloses the entire audience.
To provide an unmatched experience, there are 4D machines that simulate temperature, wind, and aroma effects based on what is happening on the screen or stage.
Exterior of the Sphere
Unlike the interior, which offers the best entertainment experience, the exterior captures the world’s attention with imaginative panoramas. Some popular images include the earth, a basketball, an eyeball, and the American flag.
