10 Best Things to Do in Las Vegas

I believe Las Vegas deserves all its titles: America’s Playground, Entertainment Capital of the World, and Sin City. But these names are associated with its no-inhibition culture, live performances, and the mega-casinos.

Vegas is more than that.

For instance, you can decide to ride a helicopter and see the world-famous Grand Canyon, play a round of golf, or visit the many galleries and museums.

Today, I’ll give you the ten best things you can do in Las Vegas.

#1. Visit Las Vegas Museums

Las Vegas has a colorful past, and you can learn about it in many of the museums. You should consider the Mob Museum, the Neon Museum, and the Las Vegas Natural History Museum.

#2. Explore the Strip

The Strip is known as America’s Party Central. It’s lined with exotic casinos and hotels, each with over-the-top restaurants, bars, theaters, and clubs. If you think about Las Vegas, the Strip is what comes to mind.

#3. Watch the Fountains of Bellagio

The Fountains of Bellagio are an iconic free show on the Strip. It has over 12,00 nozzles in the 8-acre manmade freshwater lake that sprays up to 460 ft. into the air at specific times to selected soundtracks like “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion and “Viva Las Vegas” by Elvis Presley. If there aren’t any unusual weather conditions, the shows run every 30 minutes from 3 - 6:30 pm and every 15 minutes from 7 pm - 12 am.

#4. Gamble at Las Vegas Casinos

Vegas casinos are the number 1 attraction in the city. Most are in the neon-lit Las Vegas Strip. Currently, there are over 100 casinos, from small, seedy slots rooms to the lavish billion-dollar buildings that appeal to high-rollers. You can’t possibly visit all of them. But you may as well try your luck somewhere. You're in Las Vegas!

#5. Enjoy the Panoramic View at Skypod

The Skypod at the STRAT is 1,149 ft. tall. It’s actually one of the tallest freestanding observation towers in the Western Hemisphere. You can enjoy the view from the top while having a nice meal at the revolving restaurant. The SkyJump is a unique attraction that you could try. There are also four thrill rides that will scare you to death.

#6. Enjoy a Performance in a Glitzy Casino

One of the essential experiences when you come to Vegas is catching a performance at a big-name casino. It may be a stupefying magic show, a Cirque du Soleil extravaganza, a family-friendly dance show, or anything else you can imagine. Many of these shows are hosted in Vegas casinos on the Strip, although there are also a few goodies that aren't on Las Vegas Blvd.

#7. Go to Fremont Street and Zoom Over Crowds on a Zipline

Fremont Street is a Vegas gem that you can’t possibly miss. The Fremont Street Experience is a pedestrian mall that spans the westernmost five blocks and has an impressively illuminated roof covering casinos, bars, restaurants, and a lively atmosphere. One of the most unique attractions here is the SlotZilla Zip Line, which you must try.

#8. Take a Helicopter Ride to the Grand Canyon

You can enjoy the impressive views of the iconic Grand Canyon and its surrounding landscape in a helicopter. It’s worth the expense. You can see other places like the Strip, Lake Mead, Mojave Desert, and even Hoover Dam.

#9. Get a Taste of the Local Culture in the Arts District

Vegas has the Arts District, which could be a good place for you to start because it’s a hub of arts and theater. It’s one of the most colorful areas of the city, with its many walls and murals. Go to the Arts Factory and enjoy the unique restaurants and shops.

#10. Take a Ride on the High Roller

The High Roller is one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the world. It stands 550 ft. tall and offers an impressive view of the Strip. It takes 30 minutes for each of the 28 pods to do a full revolution. Go at night if you really want to be impressed.
