The Raiders win a week one thriller, the Aces finish the season strong, and Chandler Jones continues to show some very concerning behavior. It's time to talk about last week in Las Vegas sports (Sept 4 - 10).

The Las Vegas Raiders have walked away with their first win of the season, but it has come at a price.
Jakobi Myers suffered what looks like a concussion after a head-on collision with the Denver Broncos' Kareem Jackson.
Meyers stayed on the ground as several teammates motioned for officials' attention and was later removed from the field with help. Unfortunately, while the NFL has made significant progress in creating a safer game, concussion-like injuries remain unpredictable.

The Judge overseeing Riquina Williams' domestic violence case has officially dropped the charges after the victim suddenly stopped cooperating with police. The Las Vegas Aces, however, are still upholding her suspension heading into the playoffs.
"We're aware of the charges being dropped, but her status with the Aces has not changed," Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon said Friday before the Aces took on the Phoenix Mercury in their penultimate regular-season game. "We will move forward trying to win these next two games and going into the playoffs."
#3 Chandler Jones' situation getting worse

Chandler Jones posted on Instagram that the Las Vegas Raiders sent a crisis response team to his house thinking he was in danger. The news comes as Jones continues to show up in the news cycle for a series of concerning behaviors. Las Vegas also decided to bench him for last Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
Things started out with Jones not participating in several practices and not playing a snap in preseason. He later shared conversations between him and team officials on social media, which is against the rules. One message includes Jones trying to bargain for a chance to start week one.
"We've never really gone into those kinds of things, so I'm going to steer away from that," Josh McDaniels told reporters during a press conference when asked about the situation.

The Las Vegas Aces finished their 2023 season on a high note after securing a 100-85 victory over the Phoenix Mercury. A’ja Wilson scored 36 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the win, while Kelsey Plum dropped 30 of her own. The Mercury mounted an 11-point comeback in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Aces.
Now that the regular season is over, the Aces move on to face the Chicago Sky in the first round of the playoffs. Las Vegas is actually 3-0 against Chicago this season, making this their best-case scenario for round one.
"If you had said 34-6 to me back in May, I would have jumped at that in a second," Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon said after the victory. "And here we are. The amount of energy and effort [the players] put into being professionals, their approach to the game - they were so good."

The Las Vegas Raiders are now 1-0 after defeating the Denver Broncos 17-16 in an intense first-round matchup. Jimmy Garoppolo thrived in his debut by completing 20 of 26 passes for 206 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Joshua Jacobs contributed 19 carries for 48 yards and 2.5 yards a carry.
Jakobi Meyers served as Garoppolo’s primary receiver, bringing down nine receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Davantae Adams also served a major role bringing down six catches for 66 yards and 11 yards a carry. Another big contributor in the air was Joshua Jacobs, who caught two passes for 23 yards.
The Raiders' defense allowed two touchdowns on Sunday, but they also came up with two sacks. Despite some mistakes, the defense did a great job of holding up against the Broncos when it counted.
The Raiders now move on to face the New England Patriots.
