The Durango Casino & Resort opens in southwest Las Vegas on November 20, 2023. It is the latest Station Casinos property comprising 83,000 square feet of casino space with gaming and entertainment amenities for locals and tourists alike.
Other amenities include elevated suites, world-class restaurants, a food hall, swimming pools, and meeting and convention spaces. And the $750 million establishment shall have a secret cocktail lounge dabbed the Wax Rabbit inside its signature Mexican restaurant, Mijo.
If you are in Vegas for a vacation, business meeting, or a quick stopover, you can book one of the elevated suites at the Durango Casino & Resort. The hotel tower has room capacity for up to 200 guests. Also, guests will have private cabanas and oversized daybeds for relaxation. Next to the pool shall be a customizable event lawn for private parties and festive celebrations.
The property has 20,000 square feet of meeting and convention space with catering, conference, and audio-visual services. Guests can request live entertainment and performances at the banquet hall. Outside the hotel are 40 electric vehicle charging stations and bike lanes for car and bicycle parking, respectively.
Eat and Drink
Five eateries will open at the Durango Casino & Resort. The eateries are Eat Your Heart Out, Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant, Summer House, Bel-Aire Lounge, and The George. The Eat Your Heart Out is a 25,000-square-foot food hall with eleven bars and restaurants offering new-to-market cuisine concepts. Likewise, Bel-Aire Lounge is a chic cocktail bar where guests can sip their favorite drinks while listening to live music. Mijo shall serve coastal Mexican cuisines, including prime meats, grilled seafood, and tequilas. The George is a sports lounge for immersive sports watching, entertainment, and private events. Summer House is a California-inspired restaurant that prepares dishes from seasonal ingredients.
The Wax Rabbit
The Wax Rabbit is a 1,000-square-foot speakeasy hidden inside Mijo Restaurant. It features wooden arches that exude the feeling of entering a tequila vault. Guests shall enter through a terra cotta brick passageway with mirrors and floral decorations. Behind the decorations, a stack of wooden lockers with the signature small rabbit head awaits. You can purchase the wooden lockers with custom labels and store your favorite liquor bottles. All you have to do is pull the right rabbit head to enter the tequila locker room.
Inside the tequila locker room is a red velvet wall draping and banquettes, hand-tufted wool carpets, ottomans, and sofas, reminiscent of the Rouge Room at the Red Rock Resort, another popular Station Casinos property. El Centzon Tōtōchtin, a Mexican folklore narrative, inspires its interior design theme. Plus, there is a transparent DJ booth.
Wax Rabbit speakeasy shall serve classic Mexican drinks like tequilas, mezcal, and Oaxacan staples. The signature drinks shall be exclusive to the bar.
