A group led by Las Vegas Golden Knights owner, Bill Foley, is reportedly in talks to buy Bournemouth AFC from Max Denin.  The Atheltic reports that the two sides are close to a deal that would see Foley as the new owner. There are also rumors circulating that this is a part of Foley's plan to make major investments in premiere soccer. The speculation is that it would be similar to the model that Manchester United uses.

Denin, a Russian-born businessman has been trying to sell the team for years now without luck. He resumed his efforts after Bournemouth got moved up into the premier league, hoping it would increase bargaining power.  This has obviously increased the asking price and could be a very lucrative deal for Denin.

Denim is asking for $172 million for the team and appointed Montminy and Co to facilitate the deal.  He claims the asking price is due to the projected revenue for the team next season.

It is worth noting that other investors had made offers to Denin, but they never progressed as far as Foley.

Bill Foley's moves come at an interesting time for the Las Vegas Golden Knights

Las Vegas,

Foley has also been in talks to buy the French-based Lyons and even offered up a $150 million credit. This credit is supposed to be used for a training facility for the team and could be a sign of things to come. If Foley is able to complete both deals, he would become a multi-club owner.  It is not known whether he has any other plans for expansion, but some are speculating this is only the beginning.

These moves come at an interesting time for the Golden Knights after a disastrous 2021-2022 season. This resulted in Foley firing head coach Pete Deboer and replacing him with Bruce Cassidy. More: Last week in Las Vegas sports news
