Good, Bad and Ugly from Las Vegas Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers (9/11)

The NFL season is finally here, and the Raiders aren't off to a good start. Here's the good, bad, and ugly from Las Vegas Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers (9/11).

The Good:  Davantae Adams and others show promise

There weren’t a lot of good things happening on the field for the Raiders on Sunday, but one highlight was Davantae Adams. The former Green Bay Packer ended up coming down with ten receptions for 141 yards, one touchdown, and 14.1 yards per catch in his debut with the Raiders.

He wasn't the only one show showed potential. Darren Waller contributed by catching four passes for 79 yards and 19.8 yards a carry. Brandon Boldon also helped with two catches for 21 yards, 10.5 yards per catch, and one touchdown for the Raiders.

The Bad: Derek Carr's turnover problem

This was supposed to be the game where Derek Carr came up clutch and showed what he could do. Unfortunately, he finished the game with 22 of 37 for 295 yards, two touchdowns, and three costly interceptions.

Carr seems to be relying on Devontae Adams too much, making his strategy pretty predictable. It’s almost like he keeps going for the big play instead of trying to just move the ball down the field one snap at a time. That puts him in a hole on third down and forces him into even more mistakes. The Raiders need to fix this problem immediately.

The Ugly: The Las Vegas Raiders' defense

Another year, another Las Vegas Raiders defense that can't keep their team in the game. The Raiders' defense ultimately allowed 24 points, and that wasn’t even the worst part. That honor goes to the fact that this new defense didn’t manage one sack or interception during the entire game. That is not a good sign for Josh McDaniels or his legacy as coach of the Raiders.

Jonathan Abram led the way with nine tackles and three assisted tackles against The Chargers. He was followed by Max Crosby, who totaled eight solo tackles and two assisted tackles. Those two tried to keep things close, but the Chargers were eventually able to exploit the team's weaknesses.

Final thoughts on Las Vegas Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers (9/11)

The Las Vegas Raiders don’t have a lot going for them right now. Their defense is unable to produce a turnover, Carr has tunnel vision, and the running game is almost nonexistent.

Josh Jacobs did manage 10 receptions for 57 yards and 5.7 yards a carry. But what happened to Brittain Brown and Zamir White? Why not get the running backs involved in the passing game?

There was just so much more that Las Vegas could have done. The Raiders even had a chance to take the lead in the final minutes of the fourth but failed to convert on a critical third down. A lot needs to improve in the next week, or they risk falling to 0-2 against the Cardinals in week two.
