These 5 Las Vegas Raiders Are Dominating Preseason

Preseason wouldn't be the same without these beasts on the Las Vegas Raiders.

#5  Daniel Carlson (Kicker)

The Las Vegas Raiders look good this preseason, and there are many different players to thank for that. This includes Daniel Carlson, who racked up two field goals in two attempts against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He even chipped it in from 55 yards out in a valid showcase of his kicking power.

He followed that up by two of two for eight points in Las Vegas's 26-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. While praising a kicker seems a little ridiculous, it's nice to see him getting game ready.

#4 Austin Walter (Running Back)

Another man that has impressed many this preseason is former New York Jets running back Austin Walter. Walter hasn't had a steady career since going undrafted in 2009 and being picked up by the San Francisco 49ers. He was waved or cut several times before landing with the Raiders in 2022

Fortunately for Walter, he seems to finally be on a career upswing and is being expertly utilized by Josh McDaniels. Not only was that evident by his 8 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars, but also his versatility. For example, the Raiders put him on special teams, which he took full advantage of by returning the kick for 28 yards.

#3 Darius Philips (Cornerback)

Defense is going to be the key to the Las Vegas Raiders' success, and that side of the ball is already showing signs of promise.

Part of that is Darius Philips, who started the season with three tackles and two assisted tackles against the Jaguars. He followed that up with another three tackles against the Vikings, showing he knows how to get to the ball handler. Expect to see big things from this guy in 2022.

#2 Darien Butler (Linebacker)

The Las Vegas Raiders need playmakers on defense, and Darien Butler seems just the man for the job! He more than proved that during his first outing, where he recorded three tackles and two assisted tackles against the Jaguars. He matched those numbers the next week, proving pretty reliable on defense.

Although inexperience might be a factor when the regular season starts in September, Butler is showing a lot of consistency. Whether that translates to his long-term success is unknown, but he is showing much promise for the Raiders. The type of promise that could make him very valuable in critical defensive situations.

#1 Zamir White (Running Back)

Josh McDaniels is showing signs of constructing a run-first offense, which is why players like Zamir White are crucial for the future. White has already shown a lot of upside during the preseason, and it could lead to him getting more snaps in September.

White started with 11 carries for 52 yards and an average of 4.7 yards a carry against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also caught three passes for 23 yards, proving himself useful as an extra target. White didn't have that same strength the following week against the Vikings but did manage a 14-yard kick return on special teams.
