Inside Bellagio's Water Show

Few shows compare to what the Bellagio fountains offer

There is no doubt that the Bellagio water fountain show is one of the best attractions in the city. The show runs every day at a thirty-minute interval from noon. It's a beautiful stopover that anyone in Las Vegas should witness, and it is even more glorious at night.

Behind the Scenes

Have you ever wondered what it takes to keep the show running? Most people marvel at the end product, but it takes a lot of work, maintenance, and equipment. When an issue arises, the team promptly grabs a wet suit and fixes the problem. In rare cases, they might have to cancel the show. This  usually happens because it's too windy. When the wind blows at more than 25mph, it disrupts the show, and some of the water is lost in the process.

Maintenance

The equipment responsible for the show includes different types of shooters, from extreme to mini shooters, small jets that go round in circles called oarsmen, and lots of lights. Most of the equipment is delicate, requiring frequent servicing and maintenance. The initial company that built the fountain closed down, and buying new shooters is not an alternative. This is why engineers are responsible for making sure that broken parts are fixed, and in worst scenarios, they fabricate new parts.

The iconic show has now run for twenty-two years without fail due to the team's dedication.

Daily Cleaning

The 21-million-gallon water body is cleaned daily to remove garbage and keep the water clean and aesthetically appealing. A cleaning barge achieves this because of the size of the lake. Apart from litter, the cleaning team also collects thousands of coins worth between $30,000 to $50,000 annually. The money accumulates over time and eventually goes out as donations. The water comes from a well that previously existed on the property. The well was used to water a golf course that used to be on the land where the Bellagio hotel sits currently.

Few shows compare to what the Bellagio fountains offer. At some point, the show was the largest of its kind in the world. However, over the years, other locations in the world have set up larger fountains with a similar concept for example, Dubai and Manila.
