1. Las Vegas hosts WWE Summerslam at Allegiant Stadium

Las Vegas nabbed host city honors for
2021's Summerslam, and it definitely lived up to its reputation as the biggest party of the summer. The show was headlined by a babyface
John Cerna versus a mega heel
Roman Reigns, which resulted in the head of the table spearing the 16-time WWE Champion and pinning him in the center of the ring.
Becky Lynch also made a triumphant return at Allegiant Stadium after a year and a half hiatus to win the women's title from
Bianca Belair in a matter of seconds.
WWE will come back to town on July 2nd to present the
Money in the Bank pay-per-view. While this isn't the WrestleMania hosting honor the city probably deserves, it is another big notch in the belt. It will also give Sin City WWE fans a chance to see who is positioned to be the company's next big star! Whoever manages to win their respective briefcase in the Money in the Bank ladder match will earn a guaranteed championship match at a time and place of their choosing.
2. Kyle Busch and Kurt Busch make the playoffs

Hometown heroes
Kyle Busch and
Kurt Busch might be two of the best drivers in the
NASCAR Cup Series today, and they absolutely prove it each and every week. Not only is that evident by both drivers managing to win a race last eason, but also by the brothers making the playoffs again. Kyle Busch managed a victory at Kansas and Pocono to secure his spot in the playoffs, while Kurt pulled off a victory at the
Atlanta Motor Speedway to punch his ticket to the postseason.
Once in the postseason, Kurt Busch would suffer a first-round knockout after a crash ended his race early. He followed that up with a subpar finish at the Bristol night race, which pretty much threw him out of playoff contention. l. As for Kyle, he would get a bit further than his brother, but ultimately got eliminated in the round of eight due to a 28th place finish at Kansas Motor Speedway.
3. The Las Vegas Raiders defeat the Cowboys on Thanksgiving day

No matter how the 2021-2022 season turns out for the
Las Vegas Raiders, they can always take comfort in the fact that they beat the
Dallas Cowboys 36-33 in overtime on Thanksgiving Day. The effort was led by the Raiders' offense, who managed one touchdown in the air by
Derek Carr and two rushing touchdowns taken to the house by
Joshua Jacobs and
Marcus Mariota for good measure.
The Cowboys managed to send the game into overtime but failed to score on their opening drive. This would open the door for Carr and company to march their way down the field and set up a field goal by
Daniel Carlson to win the whole damn thing! If nothing else, the Raiders gave their fans something to be thankful for and embarrassed one of the best teams in the league on the biggest stage.
4. Las Vegas Golden Knights acquire Jack Eichel in trade with the Buffalo Sabres

The
Las Vegas Golden Knights wanted to bring in players that could help them make a championship run and they did this with an all-star trade to acquire
Jack Eichel from the
Buffalo Sabres. Of course, it took months of controversy, disagreements over surgery, and the shaming his former team for poor medical practices, but he was finally traded to the Knights for
Alex Tuch and
Peyton Krebs in November.
It might be some time before Golden Knights fans get to see the true effect of this trade, but he could be downright crucial when it comes to the postseason. Early reports indicate that Eichel could be back on the ice by February of 2022, which would be a best-case scenario. Unfortunately for the team, the rehabbing could require more time, meaning the team might have to wait until the postseason to unveil their new weapon. Either way, acquiring Eichel by trade was a big deal in 2021!
5. Derek Carr's walkoff touchdown in overtime against the Baltimore Ravens

While
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback
Derek Carr had quite a difficult time staying consistent in 2021, his first game of the season was a strong one. Carr would end up completing 36 of his 54 throws for 435 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, including the aforementioned toss to
Zay Jones that resulted in the victory. This was actually the first of three wins for the organization, including a victory over
the Pittsburgh Steelers and another one over the Miami Dolphins.
