It was quite a wild week in Las Vegas sports! Join us as we count it all down.
#5 Liz Cambage talks about OnlyFans
Liz Cambage is one of the most dominant Center in the WNBA, but that hasn't stopped her from thinking about making bank in a different kind of work. In fact, Cambage, who will return to the Las Vegas Aces for the 2021 season, discussed the idea of making only fans on Instagram.
The amount of money I could be making off OnlyFans is crazy; what am I doing sitting here?" she said. If I was going to do something like that, like sell members-only content, I d build my own base. Why not?
Whether or not she actually does this, it's an interesting thought. For now, though, getting to the WNBA Finals and winning a championship seems to be on top of her priorities list.
#4 Bleacher Report ranks Derek Carr
Bleacherreport.com released their list of the top draft pick from all 32 NFL teams, and Derek Carr was selected as the team's best draft pick of the decade. Max Crosby and Joshua Jacobs were also considered for the role as well. Interestingly enough, it seemed to come down to how underappreciated Carr has been by fans during his tenure with the team, which has led to some very heated debates within the fandom.
"A woefully underappreciated quarterback, Carr has been nothing short of a franchise staple since being drafted in the second round in 2014. Carr is a three-time pro bowler who continues to produce at a franchise-quarterback level. The former Fresno State star has been fantastic over the past two seasons, though he hasn t received a Pro Bowl nod since his third straight trip in 2017. In 2019, he passed for 4,054 yards with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Last season, he threw for 4,103 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions."
#4 Angel Mccoughtry gets upset
Golden State Warriors power forward, Draymond Green, has made headlines for his comments on the wage gap between female and male basketball players, leading quite a few athletes to sound off on him. He was absolutely roasted by former Las Vegas Aces player, Angel McCoughtry, who accused Green of not doing his research into the matter. She also discussed the fact that she had gone through great lengths to try to get women's basketball more exposure.
"Draymond, have you done your research?! Have you asked us questions?" Angel said Thursday during a USA Basketball training camp news conference. "Don't you think we've tried to do that kind of stuff?! No, he hasn't done his research! That's my only thing with Draymond!"
#2 Karl Joseph signs deal with Las Vegas Raiders
Karl Joseph played four seasons for the Las Vegas Raiders before leaving for The Cleveland Browns in free agency but finds himself back with the Raiders after signing a new deal with the team. The news comes after Joseph reportedly met with the team earlier in the week and should help the organization with the defensive woes they went through last season.
Keep in mind that this is the man who started 41 of his 49 games with the Raiders and recorded 236 tackles, three sacks, four interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. In 2020, Joseph had 46 solo tackles, 67 combo tackles, and only one interception. He also only made eight starts last season with Cleveland, leaving some to wonder whether Joseph has the mettle to play defense in Las Vegas. It will certainly make for an interesting 2021 season, though.
#1 Las Vegas Raiders meet with Jacob Harris
The 2021 NFL draft will be a game-changing moment, especially for the Las Vegas Raiders, who seem to have their eye on sleeper pick Jacob Harris.
"Whoever drafts (or signs) Harris is going to need a few years to develop him... He wasn t all that productive in college and is a bit of a tweener. The Raiders likely view him as a tight end and that means he might need a year or two in the weight room to get up to 230-240 pounds."
