4 Questions We Want to Ask the Las Vegas Aces

The WNBA season is almost here, and there are a lot of questions to be answered about the Las Vegas Aces

#5 Does the new team have chemistry?

Will the new team gel correctly? Between Liz Cambage returning from her year-long hiatus and Chelsea Gray and Riquna Williams both now on the squad, egos might get in the way of cohesiveness. Of course, this is just speculation, but it is something real the team might have to deal with going forward.

Think about it! What if there is some resentment from the team towards the new players? What if there's lingering ill-will over Liz Cambage's decision to take the year off? Now, that wouldn't be such a big deal with she had stayed off the court for the entirety of her break, but she was competing in Australia only a few months ago. Finally, what about A'ja Wilson and Dearica Hamby, who anchored this team and will probably be resentful towards anyone taking their place? There are some very combustible elements at play, which could spell trouble for the team.

#3 Will the pandemic be a factor this season?

How big of a factor will COVID-19 play in the 2021 season? It's obvious that the pandemic isn't done wreaking havoc on the sports world.  It could end up being a deciding factor this year. WNNA may be forced into a bubble, or players may fall sick at key moments. The Aces will need to stay disciplined and follow every safety protocol if they want to make it through the season without too many problems.

#2 How will their new weapons fare?

It's no secret that the Las Vegas Aces made out like bandits during free agency and are now in possession of some of the league's best players. In fact, between Chelsea Gray, Riquna Williams, and the signing of Dearica Hamby, this team has no limits. They will also have Liz Cambage returning from her year-long hiatus and A'ja Wilson, who pretty much anchored the team in Cambage's absence. A championship run is pretty much inevitable.

#1 Is this the year they win a championship?

Can the Las Vegas Aces finish what they started in 2020? While many fans and experts predicted that the Las Vegas Aces would fall hard without Kelsey Plum and Liz Cambage, they actually went on the best run in organization history. Of course, it ended by getting swept by the Seattle Storm in what had to be one of the most underwhelming WNBA finals in history, but it raised questions of what would have happened if the Aces had been running on all cylinders.

Fast forward to 2021, and the Aces are on the hunt for a championship again. The difference this time however is that they are finally back at full strength, and have acquired quite a few more weapons in free agency. This is a team with depth.
