The Las Vegas Raiders have a lot going on right now, and the rumor mill is spinning. Here are the top five Las Vegas Raiders rumors that sprang up after Josh McDaniels was fired.
#5 Josh McDaniels reportedly tried to sabotage Aidan O’Connell

Josh McDaniels is no longer with the Raiders, and quite a few stories are coming out about him. One of these is that he tried to sabotage Aidan O’Connell during his very first start by not utilizing O’Connell’s arm. Instead of firing long throws for big chunks of yards, the former head coach stuck with short, quick passes. This is the usual plan for Garoppolo and didn't work at all for O'Connell.
“When Aidan O’Connell started in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers after Jimmy Garoppolo was injured, seeds of frustration started to germinate when Josh McDaniels did nothing to alter or change ‘His system’ for the talented youngster,” Sports Illustrated reports.
This made Jimmy Garoppolo look like the better starter and set O'Connell up to fail immediately. McDaniels wanted Garoppolo to be the starter so bad that he actively sabotaged his rookie backup.
“Internally, McDaniels explained that it was ‘the way to learn’ his complicated offense, but many questioned it,” Hondo continued. “When Jimmy Garoppolo was injured again, and the Raiders went north to Chicago, people began to wonder what McDaniels would do. There was excitement around the rookie, but team-wide, people didn’t want to see O’Connell thrown into a no-win situation again.”
#4 Some claim Interim Head Coach Antonio Pierce taunted McDaniels after victory

Antonio Pierce has rallied the Las Vegas Raiders to a better record and is now reportedly taking shots at his former boss. This happened during a post-game press conference, where he was asked about his decision to utilize Davantae Adams in a better fashion.
“The first couple plays were right to him,” Pierce told the media after a victory against the Jets. “Get the ball in his hands, get him going. When you’ve got one of the best receivers in the game, I’m not stupid. I know who to get the ball to.”
McDaniels also relied heavily on the star wide receiver but arguably didn’t capitalize on his strengths. Pierce, though, seems to know that getting the ball to Adams is a quick way to move to the chains.

Rumors have been running wild about Davantae Admas getting traded, but it never happened. Most of the speculation supposedly related to Adams' unhappiness with the team. He also became increasingly frustrated with the game plans that Josh McDaniels devised.
According to ESPN's David Newton, the Carolina Panthers were one of the teams that approached the Raiders. Las Vegas rejected the offer, and it was never revealed what they wanted in return.
“They went after the Bengals’ Higgins and elite receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders before the trade deadline, according to an NFL front office source with knowledge of discussions, but neither team was willing to deal,” Newton wrote in a November 9 column.
The source claims that Adams is much happier with Antonio Pearce as head coach. He is also likely pleased about his continued role in the offense and getting so many opportunities.

#2 Former Linebacker takes a shot at the Las Vegas Raiders

Everyone’s taking shots at the Raiders, including former linebacker Tedy Buschi. The former Patriot was discussing the ongoing Bill Belichick situation in New England and took a shot at the Raiders as well. This news comes after the firing of Josh McDaniels and pretty much lays waste to what is left of McDaniels' reputation.
“We are not the Las Vegas Raiders, and that is not Josh McDaniels right there," Tedy Buschi said during an ESPN broadcast. "You let Bill [Belichick] finish this out, Mr. Kraft, and then whatever draft pick you have at the end, have that meeting, and whatever you come up with whether he moves on or not, have it then. That discussion [on whether Belichick finishes the season] is asinine.”

It’s time to search for the next Las Vegas Raiders head coach, and there are so many options! For example, the Raiders could go with Antonio Pierce, but the rest of the season will probably decide that. Hondo Carptener of Sports Illustrated is listing Pierce and four other great candidates.
These include Jon Gruden, Rich Bissicia, Frank Smith, and Ben Johnson. The most bizarre is Gruden, who resigned in 2022 after an email scandal. Rich Bissacia is a great choice for several reasons, but it's Antonio Pierce who is gaining traction.
“The players like him a lot,” Carpenter said of Antonio Pierce. "He’s a guy that doesn’t have the head coaching experience in the NFL, but he’s going to get it for nine games. He knows the lay of the land. He and Champ Kelly are already very close, and I’m going to say it right now… I hope Champ Kelly gets the full-time GM job. He deserves it.”
