#6 Las Vegas Golden Knights fall to the Anaheim Ducks

The Las Vegas Golden Knights are now 11-1-1 after a
4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev both scored goals in the first two periods of the game but were noticeably silent later on. In fact, the Golden Knights failed to score a single goal in the final period and allowed four unanswered goals.
Thomson allowed three of these goals before getting replaced by Adin Hill, who gave up the game's final goal. Thompson did manage 19 saves during the game before he was obliterated in the last period. Add in the dysfunctional offense that couldn't score, and it looked like a recipe for disaster. It will be important to see how the Golden Knights respond to this loss and what changes they make in the future.
For example, this might be enough to convince Bruce Cassidy that Logan Thompson should have fewer starts in the net. They also need to address an offense that went scoreless in the most pivotal period of the game. There's no reason to panic yet, and this might be a bump in the road, but it's puzzling.
#5 Las Vegas Raiders axe Josh McDaniels

After getting fired last Tuesday, Josh McDaniels is no longer with the Las Vegas Raiders. The decision, which fans have been waiting for, came less than 24 hours after an embarrassing loss to the Detroit Lions. General Manager Dave Ziegler also got the boot in an attempt to start fresh in the front office.
McDaniels has struggled immensely from the beginning and went 6-11 in his first season in Las Vegas. The team also missed the playoffs after making it last year with Rich Bissacia. McDaniels later insisted on investing $125.5 million in Derek Carr but cut him a year later. Garoppolo was McDaniel's last chance in Las Vegas, and the duo just never made it work.
#4 Jimmy Garoppolo benched for the rest of the season

The Las Vegas Raiders are 4-5 and third in the AFC West with Antonio Pierce as the new interim head coach. The Raiders also announced last week that Jimmy Garoppolo is benched for the remainder of the season. This means Aidan O'Connell is taking his place in the lineup and has the potential to do something special in the role.
Las Vegas is definitely making the right decision for several reasons. The first is that Garoppolo has already suffered two injuries this season. This forced Aidan O'Connell and Brian Hoyer to sub for him and try to keep the ship steady. That didn't work out, however, because the Raiders were up against some of their most formidable opponents.
But the biggest problem is his performance. Garoppolo has completed 93 of 142 passes for 1005 yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions this year. Between that and his aforementioned injury issues, there's no doubt that the Raiders are better off without him.

#3 Calls for the Las Vegas Aces to play a high school boys' basketball team continues
[caption id="attachment_40688" align="alignnone" width="1024"]

Clay Travis challenged the Las Vegas Aces to play a high school basketball team of his choosing for $1 million but hasn't gotten much of a response. Chelsea Grey only tweeted the word "dumbass."
Now, Charly Arnolt and Chirs Manno are joining the call for the Aces to compete in this contest. They are even going so far as to say that the bet is not sexist. Arnolt and Manno have a point regarding there being nothing sexist about calling out differences, but the bet still rings as disrespectful.
"There are a lot of people out there who are just assuming that Clay is being sexist, that he is trying to punk the WNBA; we even look at boys high school basketball teams, and the makeup of their players, what they're able to do, their size, their skills," Arnolt said. "And you look at the WNBA players who are oftentimes much older. They're professional basketball players but still, the level of competition would not at all be on the same playing field."
The disrespect comes when you consider that the Aces have nothing to prove. They are back-to-back champions and achieved the feat in a dominant fashion. Just asking them to step down to a high school level is rude.
#2 MLB owners expected to vote on Athletes move to Las Vegas in November

The Athletics are trying to finalize their move to Las Vegas, and it's getting close. In fact, according to Mick Ackers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the owners are set to vote on the relocation in November. The Athletics will need at least a three-fourths majority to make it to Sin City.
Aker states documents have officially been sent in and are being reviewed by the relocation committee. The document will then be reviewed by Commissioner Rob Manfred and the executive council. The council will offer their recommendation to the board before the official vote.
"So those owners, we'll see how vocal they are when the vote is taken," Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic said during an edition of The TK Show podcast. "I suspect they'll all fall in line as they always do, but maybe not."
#1 Las Vegas Raiders win first game without Josh McDaniels as head coach

The Las Vegas Raiders did the impossible and won in their first game without Josh McDaniels. Aidan O'Connell is also now the starter, getting the opportunity of a lifetime, and needs to make the most of it. He finished with 16 of 25 passes for 209 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a pretty solid effort.
The zero touchdowns stat looks a little troubling, but he didn't turn the ball over. He also served as a great game manager and made intelligent plays when it counted. He primarily relied on Joshua Jacobs, who had 23 carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Jakobi Meyers also ran one in for a touchdown as well.
The best part is that the defense never gave the Giants an inch. New York only managed one touchdown against the Raiders.
