How the Las Vegas Raiders Are Honoring My Cause, My Cleats

No matter what you celebrate, the holidays are a special time of year. A time of goodwill.

The NFL has kicked off its annual "My Cause, My Cleats" initiative that allows players to wear personally designed kicks on the field during December. These shoes aren’t just supposed to look cool and draw attention, they are also meant to recognize a specific cause. The increased awareness helps raise donations!

"My Cause My Cleats celebrates the positive impact that players make in their communities by providing them with a unique opportunity to highlight the charitable partners that they are passionate about on their cleats," the NFL said in a statement.

Each player picks a charity or organization that's close to their heart. Here's what the athletes chose:

1. Derek Carr: Valley Children's Hospital

While Derek Carr might not be everyone’s favorite quarterback, he is a very bold man. He proved that during the 2021 season, where he helped captain the ship through a tumultuous year. Carr’s greatest battle though was watching his son, Dallas cling to life only hours after being born.

This is why Carr has chosen to raise awareness for  Valley Children's Health in California. The hospital helped the Carrs deal with a multitude of surgeries and did everything possible to get Dallas healthy. The hospital does the same for countless children in the California area and around the US. Please consider making a donation here.

2. Darren Waller: Wounded Warrior Project and Darren Waller Foundation

Las Vegas wide receiver Darren Waller is promoting a cause very close to his heart. In fact, he started the Darren Waller foundation to help at-risk kids with the same demons he struggled against. These include a $ 100-day pill habit that eventually turned to cocaine addiction.

The foundation equips today's youth with skills to overcome these pitfalls and offers support during recovery. Waller is also choosing to highlight the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that offers free care and support to our military community. Make a donation by clicking here.

Max Crosby might be one of the most dangerous men on defense, but he really has a heart of gold. In fact, he has a soft spot for furry friends and is raising awareness for the Stand Up for Pits Foundation.

The organization funds rescue shelters for pit bulls around the country. Crosby’s own family adopted two pit bulls from a rescue shelter and have been advocates for the bread ever since.

Please consider donating to the cause  here.

"Thank you Maxx Crosby of the Raiders for choosing the Stand Up For Pits Foundation as your cause for #mycausemycleats!!!" the foundation posted on their website. "We are honored you will be representing the Stand Up For Pits Foundation and our beautiful inherently good dogs out on the field. Thank you for being a much-needed voice for pit bull-type dogs and using your platform, incredible talents, and giant heart to educate the world.”
