From seeing a play to witnessing an MLK parade, here’s what to do in Las Vegas this weekend (Jan 13 – 15).
1. See “To Kill a Mockingbird”
Forget about debauchery. This weekend, go highbrow and watch To Kill a Mockingbird at the Smith Center. The Aaron Sorkin adaption is extremely well-reviewed. Let yourself get lost in the drama.
Tickets start at $40.
When: Friday – Sunday
Where: The Smith Center
2. Try Shaq’s Big Chicken

A new Big Chicken is in town. Shaquille O’Neal’s celebrated, Vegas-born eatery finally has a second location in Sin City. Now you can get your juicy fix on the west side. Remember to try the mac ‘n cheese inspired by Shaq’s mom.

Where: 9595 W Tropicana Ave (Tropicana and Fort Apache)
3. Catch a free concert

Sometimes, the best things in life really are free. On Friday, you can check out “Country’s Next Big Thing” on Fremont Street. The free concert features Tigirlily Gold, a sister duo known for hit single “Somebody Does”
When: Friday @ 7 pm
Where: Fremont Street 1st Street Stage
4. Shop local

Window shopping at the department store gets old. Head to the Market in the Alley to browse through the wares of at least 70 local vendors. You’ll find unique pieces that are impossible to score anywhere else.
When: Sunday, 11 am – 4 pm
Where: the Arts District near Main and Imperial
5. Honor Martin Luther King Jr.

If you’re still in town on Monday, celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. A holiday parade complete with floats, dancers, and performers will march through downtown. Dress warmly; it’s expected to be chilly.
When: Monday at 10 am
Where: parade starts near 4th Street and Gass
