Celebrate local artists, party Great Gatsby-style, and more this weekend in Las Vegas (Aug 5 – 7).

1. Celebrate Local Artists @ First Friday


First Friday is back! Head to the Downtown Arts District between 5 – 11 pm and check out work by dozens of artists, many of them local. This month’s theme is “No Judgment.” There’s also a classic car show, at least 20 food trucks, and plenty of booze. If you want a party like a Vegas local, this is where you need to be.

2. Party Great Gatsby-Style @ the Legacy Club


Forget about the modern world and pretend like it’s 1922 at the Legacy Club’s Gatsby Night party. The 1920s-themed soiree will take you to Circa’s 60th floor, where you’ll luxuriate in elegant surroundings with cocktails, desserts, and gorgeous views of the city. Live jazz music will set the mood. Don’t worry about finding flapper gear- everyone who attends will receive a mini-costume kit.

Tickets cost $150 per person.

3. Watch the World’s Best Video Gamers Fight It Out @ EVO


Who says video games aren’t a big deal? This weekend you can watch the world’s best video gamers converge on Mandalay Bay for the three-day Evolution Championship Series. The theme is fighting games, with competitive rounds of Mortal Kombat 11, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and other classics. Watch interviews and exhibitions inside the Mandalay Bay convention center on Friday and Saturday, then head to the Michelob Ultra Arena on Sunday for the finals.

General admission tickets for the finals start at $85.75

4. Experience a Special Dinner @ Mt Charleston

Enjoy a special dinner outside with the Pine Dining Series on Mt. Charleston. This weekend, the outdoor cookout features:

Main sessions are 1 – 4 pm or 5 – 8 pm. Marvin will cook for the VIPs on Sunday 4 – 7 pm. The dinner site is the old Mt. Charleston Lodge in Kyle Canyon, and there’s no parking, so you’ll need to catch a shuttle unless you’re renting a cabin.

5. Munch on Creole Cuisine


Head to the Vegas Test Kitchen on Sunday for a one-night-only creole food experience. Famed chefs Sandra Batiste and Che’ Gravy Gaines (AKA the “Sauce Boss”) will serve tapas-style portions of low-Braised Oxtail with coconut rice and peas, a bucket of legs and tails with frites, and Bourbon Chicken and Waffles. Dessert is Bananas Foster Creme Brulee Bread Pudding.

Tickets are $50 per person.
