Free Admission to the Mob Museum

The Mob Museum is offering free admission to Nevada residents on Tuesday, November 15, in honor of Kefauver Day. Non-residents will receive buy-one-get-one-free tickets on this date.

Kefauver Day

Kefauver Day commemorates Las Vegas’ history in organized crime. November 15, 1950, was the day when hearings were commenced by the U.S. Senate’s Special Committee to Investigate Crime in Interstate Commerce. These later became known as the Kefauver Hearings because the committee’s chairman was Senator Estes Kefauver of Tennessee.

These hearings were held in 14 cities by 27 subcommittees in an effort to nationally fight against organized crime. The Kefauver Hearings gained widespread public attention. Newspapers, magazines, radio, and television were buzzing with news surrounding the findings of these committees. Evidence revealed heavy corruption in business and politics, plus sparked new law enforcement tactics to crack down on the Mob.

The exhibit detailing the Kefauver Hearings is located on the second floor of the museum.
