Casino chips, shot glasses, cheesy T-shirts reading ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’—that’s usually what people think of when they imagine Las Vegas souvenirs.
But MGM Resorts just introduced another option. And it’s free!
The casino company now offers K-9 trading cards featuring their own security dogs. They’re like baseball cards, with the dog’s picture on the front and personal information on the back.
What’s the dog’s name? How old are they? Are they obsessed with tennis balls?
“Often, our handlers are approached by our guests and team members, and they want to interact with the dog. They want to pet the dog. That’s something that, unfortunately, we don’t allow,” explains Danny O’Connell, Senior Manager, Corporate K-9 Unit at MGM Resorts.
“But instead, we want to make that positive interaction with our guests and team members. By handing out these trading cards, there’s a positive interaction between everybody and they have an understanding that we’re there to try to help and ensure their safety.”
To get a K9 trading card, go to one of the 12 hotels MGM operates on the Las Vegas Strip and look for a K-9 handler. If you spot one, you can ask for a card.
