5 Best Craps Bets for Beginners

Las Vegas is known for hot craps tables; if you’re a novice watching a game can be quite overwhelming to try and understand the best bets. Here are 5 of the best craps bets with extremely low house edges. These are the bets you should make to give yourself the best odds of having good wins; without serious losses.

1. The Odds Bet

The Odds is kind of like a side bet in craps made after a point is thrown. It pays if the point is thrown before a 7. The odds on the Odds are exactly fair, which zero house edge. An Odds bet pays 2 to 1 on points of 4 and 10, 3 to 2 on a 5 and 9, and 6 to 5 on a 6 and 8. To make an odds bet after a pass line bet just put the odds bet behind the pass line bet, outside of the pass line area on the side closest to you.

2. The Don’t Come Bet

Don’t Come bet can best be described as an extension of the Don’t Pass bet. The only difference between the two results from the fact Don’t Come bets can only be placed when a Point for the Pass Line has been established and are never accepted on the shooter’s come out roll.

3. The Don’t Pass Bet

The Don’t Pass bet is the opposite one of the Pass bet, which basically means that the player loses if the numbers 7 or 11 come out after the dice is rolled. Players are allowed to remove or reduce a Don’t Pass bet once the shooter has come-out on a point.

4. The Come Line Bet

The Come bet revolves around the same principle the Pass Line bet does. Players place their bets in the Come box, win on 7 or 11 and lose when any of the Craps numbers (2, 3 or 12) is rolled. Any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) can become the Point on the next roll.

5. The Pass Line Bet

The fundamental bet in craps is the pass line bet, which is a bet for the shooter to win. This bet must be at least the table minimum and at most the table maximum. If the come-out roll is 7 or 11, the bet wins. If the come-out roll is 2, 3 or 12, the bet loses (known as “crapping out”).
